Get Fixed-Up

One of the greatest benefits of being in the sign business is all the great businesses we get to know and more importantly the people that make these businesses go.  One business is "Fields & Sons" operated by William Fields.  These folks main headline is Remodeling and Repairs and I suppose that says a great deal but these people do it all and they do it well including all kinds of repairs and maintenance.  You can count on theses folks to handle your Electrical, Plumbing and Roofing repairs.  People do business with people they know, trust and like.  Get to know these people and the "trust" and "like" will follow.  Thorough and highly organized we  recommend "Fields & Sons" for all your repair and maintenance needs. For a job well done please contact William at 214 586-8417.

Bright - Safe - Complient

We just had the opportunity to modify some graphics for Ambulance Company "MedicOne" located here in the DFW area. The company needed to re-locate three of their vehicles to an area near Bristol, Tennessee and to meet regulatory requirments needed a diffrent style of reflective stripes that were taller. Because of time constraints this was a challenging project that required bringing in additional people beyond our normal staff. The folks at "MedicOne" and particularly their leadership were a joy to work with.  These people are very professional and run one of the best operations we have ever seen.  There fleet of over 20 vehicles in the DFW area are smartly presented with an excellent design they created internally.

For great ambulance and medical transportation services look no further than "MedicOne".  Please take a moment to checkout their great web site at http://www.mediconeresponse.com/ or give them a call at 972-554-9300.

State law for ambulances often requires the use of reflective vinyl.  In this photograph you can really see the luminescence of this incredible material.  For great vehicle graphics check out Infinity Signs at http://www.infinitysigns.biz/ or call Allan at 972 896-7316.

Who are my Heros?

Most people have lots of stories about bad service they have received during their life and most people have a story or two about a great service experience.  Until recently my best and only good story was about 30 years old until I came across two individuals on a dark and cold highway on an isolated strip of Arkansas highway.

As an owner of a small company, Infinity Signs, my Graphics Designer and I were on a mission from our home base in Dallas, Texas to Memphis, Tennessee to pick-up a large ink-jet printer.  This printer required a large enclosed trailer to transport.  Normally it takes no more than 8 hours to get to Memphis but because of an icy winter storm the trip took 18 plus hours.  We were tired cold and more than a little frustrated when things got much worse.  We had just picked-up the printer and were headed back to Dallas when we passed Forrest City, Arkansas when I noticed the volt meter dropping to the red zone.  Soon all the power in the dash went down.  I called my partner and spouse on the cell phone whom managed to get a hold of Eric Yons and Alavin White (Eric on the left and Alvin on the right) who checked their inventory for a 2005 F150 alternator and volunteered to install it at their Autozone store in Forrest City.  A quick u-turn put us in the right direction but soon after the truck died and we were stuck on the side of the road.  Understand, it was getting dark, the temps were in the mid 20's, no light and we were 15 miles from no where.  A quick call back to Eric at Autozone and they insisted on coming out to the rescue which is exactly what they did.  They arrived with an alternator and a fresh battery installed the new parts and we were on our way to their store to settle up.  The price was more than reasonable.  Bottom line, these guys are our heroes and I will never buy an auto part anywhere except Autozone.  Thank you, thank you, thank you....

What is a Reverse Lit Halo Channel Letter?

A halo lit sign uses the absence of light to form the letters through an outline of  light  generated by neon or LED.  The letters that form XTC in this photo is a combination of front and back lit.  The front part is somewhat dimmed by the application of the  translucent burgundy faces, the back is reverse halo - the effect is stunning.  The bottom line is there are many creative possibilities when using halo effects.  We have great experience in the design of electrical channel signs using both neon and the latest LED technologies.  The bottom "CABARET" message is standard front lit channel letters.  For a no-cost consultation please contact Patrick Noonan at 214 766-5852 or patrick@infinitysigns.biz

Are you Protected?

We just finished installing a wall sign at Protectus Security on Akard Street in downtown Dallas. These folks have an amazing facility both productive and aesthetic in design. This wall sign was custom cut from brushed aluminum with a 3/16' black acrylic backing and when we say custom cut we mean that their logo is exactly and faithfully reproduced. A companies name is, after all, the main symbol of it's identity. This wall sign is positioned at the main reception desk strategically placed at eye level while standing and high enough over the receptionists head for great visibility. The customer will be adding halogen track lighting to bring further attention to their trademark.

Having said that, we had a video surveillance system installed at Infinity Signs by Protectus Security complete with infrared cameras and a DVR.  But the coolest thing is our ability to monitor our facility from any Internet enabled PC, even cooler we can monitor our shop from our smart phones.  And the infrared feature allows monitoring with a great picture even in total darkness.  "This system gives us great peace of mind" says Alisa, co-owner of Infinity Signs.

When you have a chance checkout Protectus and their complete line of security products and services at http://www.protectussecurity.com/  For great signage at great prices contact Allan at allan@infinitysigns.biz or call 972 896-7316.

Is this is a cool Stang or what?

This is a 2005 Mustang in really great shape. The owner is a college student majoring in business and this young man takes a great deal of pride in his ride. It is easy to imagine him hand waxing this beauty. It is always great to get a good referral with  this client being recommended to us by the "Dallas Mustang Club".   Double stripes running the length of the vehicle is a Mustang tradition that goes back many years and we are proud to continue this tradition.   On this vehicle we installed a Ford RTA (ready to apply) kit. While it can be a DIY project the results of a professional install is most often worth the price.

At Infinity Signs we can install your RTA kit or computer design one for you.  Our designer, Monte, is a true master and an expert in digitizing custom patterns.  Have an unsuall request or picture of an older Mustang with stripes and want to duplicate it on your new or newer vehicle? Other special requests? Let Infinity Signs handle the project to your exacting specifications...

Digital Signage My Way...

This overlay helps the client visualize the end result
DIGITAL SIGNAGE

The LED Digital Reader Board marries existing on-premise signage with an “Electronic Message Center” to provide precise audience targeting and business recognition. The regular on-premise sign says “WHO” and the Digital Reader Board says “What”.

Why use digital signage?

• Digital signage is dynamic, possessing the ability to change the message instantly – Vehicle Safety Inspections now due or breakfast special in the morning followed by lunch then dinner
• Digital signage can bring about quick and measurable data – if a message produces little or no affect change the message
• A Digital Reader Board can become a landmark in the community with people looking to the sign on a regular basis for local information – High School Football scores, Welcome and Congratulation messages, urgent public announcements, time and temp
• Your message will never be out-dated, irrelevant or old and faded
• Your Digital Reader Board works 24 hours per day, never needs a raise, a day-off or a vacation
• The advertising speaks directly to potential customers
• The Digital Reader Board creates “Brand Recognition” for your physical location
• Compared to other forms of media (print, radio, television) your reader board is a one time expense that you own and can be used for many years. The cost per impression is very competitive:

o Newspaper - $7.39 for 1,000 exposures with-in a 10 mile radius
o Television - $6.26 for 1,000 exposures
o Digital Reader Board – about $0.45 per 1,000 exposures over 10 years assuming an equipment cost of $30,000 with electricity at .07 KWH and a daily traffic count of 20,000 vehicles

• According to the U.S. Small Business Administration on-premise digital reader boards increase sales from on average 25% to 125%

What equipment should I use?

• There are many choices of manufacturers in the Digital Reader Board business with a large spread in price and quality
• The market has been saturated with poorly made foreign equipment (bin 3 and 4) with many businesses choosing price over quality
• The foreign board manufactures often leave the end user handling the logistics of permitting, structural analysis and certification, electrical needs as well as installation
• Infinity Signs is a Authorized dealer for DCI, a 38 year old company located in Rowlett, Texas

o DCI, Inc. is a U.S. based company that produces Digital Reader Boards in the U.S.
o DCI equipment uses proprietary diodes with a pixel brightness of 16,200 NITS
o The CineVision line produces 1.15 Quintillion Color Shades
o DCI does not use virtual resolutions, all stated resolutions are real
o 160 dg viewing angle, Text, Time and Temp
o Power supplies are over built heavy duty units
o Custom configured laptop or desktop PC
o Desktop control software
o Wireless and Internet control options
o Animation Library
o Free custom graphics (5)
o Installation overseen by an on-site factory representative
o Two days of on-site training
o Five Year parts and labor warranty

Who does the install?

• Infinity Signs provides a turn-key solution handling all of the following details:

o Review of all state and local ordinances related to the project including permitting fees
and communicate with property management if applicable
o If needed a structural analysis and certification
o Complete site survey for retrofit or new installation including all physical measurements
o Analysis related to highway, street and pedestrian visibility to determine the correct size and type of sign for optimum effectiveness
o Review required electrical needs for the sign and develop a plan for getting the power to the sign. Infinity has a Master Sign Electrician on staff.
o Determine hardware and equipment (cranes, lifts and etc.) needed to install the sign.
o Develop a time line with a target date for installation
o Consult with the customer on their five free graphics designs and submit to DCI for production
o Order the panels from DCI, Inc.
o Assure all needed supplies, hardware, paint, tools and etc are in-stock or ordered
o Receive and transport the panels to the install site
o Supervise the actual install co-coordinating with the DCI Rep for turn on
o Work with the DCI Rep on training the customer in the use of the desktop software

Are you old, tired, and fadeing away?

Old and Faded, Tired

Progress being made
Newly renovated

An old faded sign gives a poor 1st impression and sends out a negative message, of an old tired business. Often times an old sign can be refurbished to make it look like new again.  A fresh sign with bold colors will attract attention and send a positive message that will bring in the business.  Infinity Signs can handle your project from start to finish...

DIY or NOT!

This 2008 Mustang Shelby was brought to us to have a stripe package they had already purchased from Shelby installed.  Some end users try a DIY approach and some, but far from all, get it right the frst time.  Getting the vinyl laid without creases and bubbles is the tricky part and ruining vinyl in the process is always a risk.

Imagine that Scotch tape all waded up on your fingers when wrapping those xmas presents...

Our installers have years of experience and produce  truly professional results.

At Infinity Signs we design, custom cut and install just about anything you can imagine.  We can handle all the details thru install or provide you the RTA (ready to apply) graphics.  If you do decide to try the install yourself the following reference might be helfull: http://www.wikihow.com/Install-a-Vinyl-Graphic

Do you want Famous Amos Cookies or just plain cookies?

We see this thing, this crazy kind of thing, at least to a sign guy and advertising folks, a business that has no identity such as a sign reading DONUTS, CLEANERS, DELI, COIN WASH, BUFFET, DENTIST or some other generic term describing just the core of what the business does. So does that suggest a more descriptive name has no value. If we ascribe to this notion then Frosties would just "frozen mixing powder" and Coca-Cola would be just a "coke" and Famous Amos Cookies would be, well just "cookies".  Imagine you are with a friend and you want to get some donuts would it not be easier and a bit more comfortable to suggest we go to "Annie's Corner Donut Shop" than to just… well you get my point. Consider the benefits of going to Sparkle Cleaners or Jason’s Deli or Bright Smile Dentistry. At Infinity Signs we can not only build you a sign we can help create an entire business identity. See us at http://www.infinitysigns.biz/ or e-mail me at allan@infinitysigns.biz for more details. We are happy to work for you and with you!  Ohh and BTW I am going to pick-up some "Kentucky Fried" on my way home...

A business with no sign is a sign of no business...

Signage is the least expensive, yet most effective, form of advertising for independent and national retail businesses.

You pay for the sign once and it works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for years. Use of other media requires paying month after month and you never have the benefit of ownership. You also have no assurance that you're reaching potential customers.

From a business owner's perspective, a sign should not be viewed as an expense, but as a capital investment. When you factor in your return on investment, signs are not expensive. An effective sign will most likely pay for itself many times over.

The price for signage will vary greatly depending upon the size, design, style, manufacturer, and mounting type.

The "US Small Business Administration” says...

An effective on-premise sign is a critical component of visibility, and the sign should receive the same careful attention as these other components. Without a properly designed and placed on-premise business sign, a commercial site cannot function at its full economic potential.

Vinyl - Dead or Alive

Despite some popular opinion vinyl graphics are alive and well and while full body wraps are all the rage vinyl has some real advantages.  Vinyl is durable - especially the high performance products from 3m which is U.V. and scratch resistant.  Additionaly, vinyl is often more vibrant in color than digital prints and far less expensive that a full body wrap.  At Infinity Signs we know how to design a great vinyl package and our installers have the experience to apply it the right way.  For vehicle graphics of any kind visit us at http://www.infinitysigns.biz/ should you need electrical service of any kind please take a moment to vist Bridges Electric at: http://www.bridgeselectricinc.com/

I will get the balance of the invoice as soon as I get the final one from you.
It was a pleasure working with you.

Graphics cut with a computer controlled plotter using highy quality material from 3m remains one of the best ways to to get your message out in front of the public. Vinyl is vibrant, comes in an endless variety of color and shades and is highly durable... It takes special skills like those of Alisa and Antonio (top right photo) to apply graphics the correct way. We just had an opportunity to digitize and cut some really awesome graphics for Joe McCullough whom works with Sanderson Customs and Conversions out of Pilot Point, Texas. The digitization was done by our own in house expert; Monte Luera. The vinyl used on this project is actually painted before application, a highly customized process. Joe's skill is highly evident in these photos. You can click on each photo to see an enlargement. Check out the incredible operation at: http://www.sandersoncc.com/

Brad and Paul are among the best installers in Texas. Pictured here is a Ratcliff Constructors trailer used for storage at the job site. Infinity has completed a total of six of these trailers, all to Ratcliff's exacting specifications...
At Infinity Signs we specialize in fully installed custom stripe packages for Mustangs. Pictured here is a 2010 Mustang with stripes for a 1970 Boss 302 modified to fit. Did I mention

that the other purpose of this blog is to educate. As you drive down the road or interstate note how many signs just can't be read simply because the letters are just to small - other factors such as color and fonts will be covered later. Here is a visibility table based upon information provided by the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute, Penn Sate University and the United States Sign Council (USSC) 1998

VIEWING DISTANCE MINIMUM LETTER HEIGHT

  • 100 ft. 4"
  • 250 ft. 10"
  • 360 ft. (city block) 16"
  • 500 ft. 22"
  • 750 ft. 33"
  • 1,000 ft. 43"
  • 1,320 ft 57"

A business can waste large sums of money on signs that just don't provide any R.O.I. and often times sign companies will simply make and install the requested sign without any real consultation with the customer. Whether it's a road sign with an illegible font, or the key message on a full body wrap lost in the clutter it's important to choose a sign company that understands how to communicate your message with clarity and impact.

At Infinity Signs we design, produce and install all kinds of signs including Banners, Vehicle Graphics, full Vehicle Wraps, Construction Signs, Channel Signs, Political Signs, Lighted Signs, Apartment Packages, Monument Signs and many more. When you are in the sign business you notice things, strange and often funny things about signs. First of all they are everywhere, probably enough to fill the Grand Canyon - really just count how many signs there are in a city block -100's maybe 1,000's. Which leads to the inevitable mistakes that mislead or are just plain funny which then leads to this blog where I aim to share the lighter side of those unfortunate roadside messages... Hey, when you get a chance please visit us at www.infinitysigns.biz
